Screening

Screening is a per-domain setting. With it on, mail to a new address at that domain waits in Screening.

Turn on screening

Open Screening, select Domains, and turn on the switch for the domain. Addresses that already receive mail keep working.

An address is new until it has received mail at that domain or you've added its inbox.

A dot next to Screening in the sidebar means addresses are waiting.

Decisions are per address. [email protected] and [email protected] are decided separately.

Screen in: The inbox's rules run. Push notification rules skip the mail that was waiting.
Screen out bounces future mail to that address and keeps a copy in Trash.

To undo Screen out, open the inbox under Settings → Inboxes and delete the bounce rule it added.

To stop mail to an address you screened in, add a bounce rule to its inbox.

Turn off the domain's switch in Domains. Waiting mail is delivered as new mail. Addresses you've screened stay that way.
