# Billing and plans

What the trial includes, what subscribing unlocks, and how billing differs on the web and on iPhone.

Jade is free to try and paid to send. A new account starts on an open-ended trial that receives and organizes mail; subscribing unlocks sending and your own domain. This page covers what each state includes and where to manage payment.

## The trial

Every new account starts on a free trial. No credit card is required, and the trial has no end date. You stay on it until you subscribe.

On a trial you can:

- Hand out unlimited addresses and receive mail at them.
- Read, sort, pin, categorize, and run rules on everything that arrives.
- Connect an AI assistant to read and organize your mail.

Two things wait until you subscribe:

- **Sending.** You can't send, reply, or forward from a trial account.
- **Your own domain.** Adding a domain you own is a subscriber feature. The trial receives mail at an address Jade provides, so you have somewhere to receive while you evaluate.

## What subscribing unlocks

Subscribing to the **Founders** plan turns on sending and lets you add your own domain. Everything you set up on the trial, including addresses, categories, and rules, carries straight over.

Founders has two intervals, and the price is locked in for the life of the subscription:

- **$50 a year**
- **$5 a month**

A one-time **lifetime** purchase of **$300** is sometimes offered as well. It includes everything in Founders with no renewal.

## Managing billing on the web

Open Settings → **Billing** to manage a subscription you bought on the web. Stripe handles payment. From this page you can:

- Upgrade from the trial, or switch between the monthly and annual intervals.
- Cancel or resume. Canceling keeps your access through the end of the current paid period, then stops renewal. There's no refund for unused time.
- Update the card on file through a secure Stripe-hosted page. Jade never sees your card details.
- View recent invoices and download receipts.
- Set a separate receipt email, such as a finance address, without changing your Jade login email.

## Billing on iPhone

A subscription bought inside Jade for iPhone is billed by Apple, not Stripe. Apple owns the payment, the renewal, and the cancellation.

- To change or cancel it, open **Settings** → your name → **Subscriptions** on your iPhone. Jade can't change an Apple subscription from the web.
- An account has one paid source at a time. If you subscribe through Apple, manage it through Apple; if you subscribe on the web, manage it in Settings → **Billing**.

Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription

Apple bills the App Store subscription, and only you can stop it. Cancel it on your iPhone in **Settings** → your name → **Subscriptions**. See [Settings](https://jade.email/help/settings.md) for what deleting your account does and doesn't do.

## AI assistants on a trial

A connected assistant follows the same line as the rest of the account. On a trial it can read your mail, sort it, run your rules, and edit your categories and rules, but it can't send, reply, or forward until you subscribe. See [Connecting an AI assistant](https://jade.email/help/mcp.md).
